Mapping
From UFO:AI

General
There are two kind of maps in UFO AI:
- "whole" maps used in current UFO AI version
- random maps generated by the assembly of different tiles
You may contribute by creating tiles for random maps or create new "whole" maps. In any case, you should take a look at the current List of maps to avoid double work.
Note though, lately there is a trend to make all maps assembled maps to allow dynamic placement of different Phalanx aircraft and UFOs.
There's a list of Map Suggestions too if you're looking for ideas (or to propose new ones).
Mapping tutorials and help were written for beginners (see below). MFD lessons are quite helpful to start. If you still have some questions and/or problems, there's a forum dedicated to mapping.
Like other contributions to UFO AI, your maps should be released under GNU GPL and should not use any proprietary material: beware of texture/images/models found on the web for your map. Only materials created from scratch or existing materials licensed under GNU GPL should be used.
